Employ local people - Osafo-Maafo to Chinese

Inchaban (W/R), Feb 9, GNA - Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo, Minister of Education and Sports, on Wednesday paid a visit to the site of the Sekondi Sports Complex at Inchaban.
Mr Shin Chengyu, Project Manager of Shangai Construction Limited of China, contractors of the project, took the Minister round. Mr Osafo-Maafo called on the contractors to employ local people to save them the problem of finding accommodation for workers and to complete the project on time for CAN 2008.
He appealed to the Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA) to provide security to minimise theft of equipment and tools on the site. Mr Chengyu assured the Minister that the project would be completed and handed over by October 2007.
Mrs Angelina Baiden-Amissah, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports and Member of Parliament for Shama and Nana Kweku Binnah, Omanhene of the Shama Traditional Area accompanied the Minister.
