The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, says the state of Ghana’s economy over the past two years is nothing to write home about.
According to the seasoned Journalist, the prices of foodstuffs and other commodities have increased by 150 percent likewise the price of petrol and the like.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr made the comments in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi on Atinka AM Drive Monday.
He tasked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be wary and desist from making vague promises like the current administration did which has affected the economy.
Commenting on Nana Addo’s visit to China and numerous MoU’s signed between Ghana and the Chinese government, Kwesi Pratt Jnr mentioned that China is the only country in the world which can give a developing country 5 billion without political conditions attached.
“China is actually the major source of funding in the world today. He stated that unlike the Chinese government, the IMF and World bank will attach a whole lot of conditions to loans which cannot even feed half of the people in the country,” he added.
Sinotruk International, China’s first heavy-duty truck manufacturer, has signed an agreement with the Government of Ghana to establish an assembly plant in Ghana, to serve both Ghanaian and West African markets.
Global automobile manufacturing giant Volkswagen also announced plans to set up an automotive assembly plant in Ghana.
