The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah has urged corporate Ghana to emulate the good example of top oil company FRIMPS Oil Group in supporting state institutions like the police to fully deliver on their mandate.

DCOP Addo-Danquah made the call when she received a cheque of Ghc 36,834.59 from the Oil Marketing Company to support the DNA section of the Forensic Science Laboratory of the Criminal Investigations Department.

The cheque was presented to the CID in a short ceremony at the CID Headquarters Conference room Monday by the Director of Frimps Oil Group, Mrs Erika Frimpong who expressed the willingness of the company to use its Corporate Social Responsibility to support key institutions that are making a mark and need a little push. She was accompanied by the Finance Manager of Frimps Oil, Mr Stephen Appiah and Mr James Nii Armah Tagoe.

Joining the CID Boss to receive the cheque was Deputy CID Boss ACP George Tweneboah (who also bears the stool name of Barima Tweneboah Sasraku II, Denkyira Abuakwa Adonteng Hene); CID Director of Operations ACP Joseph Oklu Gyamera and some Unit commanders.

The CID Boss revealed that under the Transformational Agenda of IGP David Asante-Apeatu, the CID has acquired state-of-the-art investigative equipment on DNA but had run out of reagent to conduct DNA analysis particularly in the cases of rape and defilement. She said the support will go a long way to help fight crime as the amount could sponsor a whole DNA package for a unit.

On behalf of the CID, she expressed her appreciation to Frimps Oil Group for responding to her appeal for support as the CID works to unravel crime involving DNA testing.
