Winneba, Sept. 4, GNA - Mr. Kofi Mintah, Chairman of the Central Regional Disciplinary Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on supporters of the party to remain calm even when provoked by their opponents.
Addressing some supporters of the NDC on Wednesday, Mr. Mintah said political opponents of the party had hatched a plan to paint the NDC as a violent party and would provoke members and supporters to retaliate. "Retaliation is what NDC opponents seek as proof that the party is violent. We need to ensure a peaceful election," he said. Mr Mintah cautioned against complacency and said even though the indicators pointed to victory for the party, "We need not to be complacent, rather we must intensify house to house, work place to work place campaign to make the electorate to know what we stand for". Mr. Mintah appealed to the media to help the electorate to make informed choices by letting them to know the real situations on the ground.
"Twisting facts or telling lies to favour the party one supports will not help the electorate to make a decision that will be in the best interest of the nation.'' Mr Mintah appealed to pro-party newspapers and radio stations to let their parties know the realities on the ground to enable them know where their strengths and weaknesses are. "Deceiving the parties is dangerous as it can be a recipe for challenging the outcome of the elections. Care must be taken not to create false hopes for parties," he said.
