Accra, Dec. 7, GNA - Lieutenant-Colonel Ababio Serebour, Commanding officer of the Forces Pay Office (FPO) of the Ghana Armed Forces, on Saturday appealed to Ghanaians to ensure credible elections on December 7. He said there was the need for the public to refrain from trading of insults and acts of violence to ensure free, fair and peaceful polls. Lt-Col Serebour made the appeal when the FPO presented food items and toiletries worth GHC 600 to the Teshie orphanage in Accra. He said the gesture formed part of the FPO social responsibility to the less privileged in the society.
Lt-Col Serebour asked Ghanaians to guard against jeopardising the country's peace during the elections and reminded the people that economic development could only take place in a peaceful environment. He called on civilians to avoid accusing the security agencies at the least opportunity, instead the people should encourage security personnel to ensure law and order to attract investors for economic development.
Mrs Janet Parker Founder of the orphanage, who received the items thanked the FPO for the donation and asked other organisations and individuals to come to the aid of the facility. 7 Dec. 08
