Hospital
Accra, June 14, GNA - Enterprise Insurance Company (EIC) on Tuesday handed over the Third Floor of the Children's Block of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, which it had renovated to the Hospital Authorities. The renovation, which cost more than 350 million cedis, was to fulfil the social responsibilities of the insurance company, Mr George Otoo, Managing Director of EIC, said. He noted that the grim picture of the difficulties that Doctors,
Nurses and other health professionals went through to provide services to children admitted to the Hospital made an impression on them. He said the dilapidated building lacked certain basic amenities such as bathrooms and toilets to make it user-friendly, adding sick children needed neat and conducive environment to recuperate.
Mr Otto said aside the 350 million cedis spent on the renovation there were others donations in kind from philanthropists. Professor Kwabena Frimpong Boateng, Chief Executive of the Hospital, commended EIC for its assistance and said the Children's Block was the most neglected.
"The children we call our future leaders should be given the needed attention to make them what we want them to be so that they can take over when we are no more," he said.
