Entities donate towards National Farmer’s Day

Entity 9 Accra Brewery Limited ,Ganorma Agro Chemicals and NIB together donated GHC220,000.00 towards the day

Three entities on Wednesday donated items and cash worth GHc220,000.00 to support the celebration of the 2017 National Farmers Day celebration (NFD), which is scheduled for Friday, December 1.

The National Investment Bank (NIB) donated an amount of GHC30,000.00 to the Ministry of Agriculture to support the 33rd annual NFD which was aimed at motivating farmers to continue the good work they were doing.

The Head of Corporate Affairs at the NIB, Charles Wordey, said the Bank saw the need to support the NFD because of the immense contributions they made towards the growth of the economy.

The Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) donated beverages worth GHC165,000.00 to the Ministry for branding the 33rd National Farmers Day celebrations.

The Head of Technical Department at ABL, Richard Kwame Eghan, said the company was donating the beverages of its various brands to refresh award winners and other participants.

He said the company had donated two solar-powered furrow irrigation systems and boreholes for two communities in the Upper East Region.

Ganorma Agro Chemicals (GAC) donated 100 Knapsack Sprayers worth GHC25,000.00.

The Operations Manager at the GAC, Abdulai Fuseini, said the company was donating the items to support the government’s initiative of Planting for Food and Jobs.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry, the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture in charge of Annual Crops, Dr. Sagre Bambangi, said the Ministry was grateful for the benevolence of the three companies.

He said the donations are very much appreciated because it will help to appreciate the hardworking farmers in the country.

Dr. Bambangi said the donations will be put to effective utilisation, urging more entities to bring their donations to support the celebration of the 33rd NFD, which is on the theme: Farming for Food and Jobs.

The 33rd National Farmers Day was launched on August 16 with the announcement of the sponsorship packages for corporate institutions to support the celebrations.

The sponsorship package starts with the bronze sponsor, which starts with GHC10,000.00 and below and such sponsors would get acknowledgement in the media, special certificate of sponsorship at the Sponsors Awards Night as well as photo opportunity for presentation of packages to the Minister for Food and Agriculture and for the media.

Silver sponsor, starting from GHC10,000.00 to GHC30,000.00 will also get acknowledgement in the media; advertise company’s logo on sponsors billboard at the durbar ground for telecast, special certificate of sponsorship at the Sponsors Awards Night and photo opportunity for presentation of packages to the Minister for Food and Agriculture for the media.

The Gold Sponsor category starts from GHC30,000.00 to GHC50,000.00 and in addition to the four benefits above they will advertise their company logo in event brochure and a half page colour print company advert with felicitation message to farmers and fishers in the National Farmers’ Day Brochure.

Platinum sponsors, which is GHC50,000.00 and above would get acknowledgement in the media, advertise company’s logo on sponsors’ billboard at the durbar for telecast, and advertise company logo in event brochure, plague and special certificate of sponsorship at the Sponsors’ Awards Night.

The rests are full page colour print company advert with felicitation messages to farmers and fishers in the National Farmers’ Day brochure, photo opportunity for presentation of packages to the Minister for Food and Agriculture for the media, and branding of some sections of the principal route to and outside perimeter of durbar ground.
