John Dramani Mahama is the President of Ghana
President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghana’s newly appointed envoys to play a leading role in advancing the government’s reset agenda through strategic diplomacy.
Addressing the diplomats at their orientation programme in Accra on Monday, September 1, 2025, he said the reset agenda is designed to restore confidence, rebuild the economy, and create lasting prosperity.
The event was held under the theme ‘Harnessing the Dividends of Diplomacy for Ghana’s Reset Agenda’.

President Mahama explained that the policy direction was shaped by the economic challenges and erosion of public trust that preceded the 2024 general election.
“The reset agenda is a comprehensive plan to restore hope, reintroduce trust and rekindle prosperity. At the heart of it is the creation of decent and sustainable jobs for Ghanaians,” he stated.
He highlighted ongoing initiatives such as the 24-hour economy and the establishment of a women’s development bank as examples of policies aimed at delivering tangible results.
The President, however, emphasised that attracting investment, technology, markets and knowledge from abroad would be critical to the success of these initiatives.
He therefore charged the envoys to ensure that Ghana’s diplomatic engagements translate into practical opportunities for citizens.
“The capital, technology, the market, and the knowledge that we attract will be decisive. That is why I am charging you, our envoys, to ensure that every engagement abroad translates into real opportunities for our people,” he indicated.
The orientation brought together ambassadors, high commissioners and consuls general as part of efforts to align the country’s foreign missions with its broader economic transformation agenda.
