Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano North in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Akwasi Adusei, has proposed to the government to build a beef factory at Agogo in the region as part of the measures to end illegal Fulani headsmen activities in the area.

“Government can establish beef factory in area and sponsor rearing of cattle for exportation if it really wants to create employment and also end illegal activities of Fulani headsmen there”, he suggested

According to the former National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker, the government can make inroads of thousands of cattle causing destruction to farm products belonging to the residents by setting up the beef factory.

“We should not see Fulanis activities so illegal that we cannot benefit from them at all. We can establish a factory and buy their cattle for raw materials”, Hon. Akwasi Adusei pointed out.

He made this suggestion when he spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM morning show hosted by Kofi Asante Ennin on recent shooting of two military personnel and a police officer in Agogo by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

“Though this is unfortunate we should deal with the issue diligently and we can also benefit from them”, he stated.

Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) who doubles as the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah has promised to solve the recurring confusion between residents of Asante Akim North District and Fulani herdsmen ‘once and for all’.

He gave the assurance while responding to the raging chaos between residents and nomads which has claimed several lives and left persons with varying degrees of injuries in Agogo and its environs over decades now

“We are going to study carefully the court ruling which was issued in the year 2012 to know the roadmap the then Security Council put in place for and find a way to solve this problem once and for all”, he stressed.

“We can’t sit for this to be an annual problem, I don’t think we can sit just like that”, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah stated.
