The Paramount Chief of the Builsa Traditional Area, Naab Azaksuk Azantilow II, has reiterated his call on the government to consider the establishment of regional cement depots to enable people to have access to the product at factory prices.
Naab Azaksuk Azantilow said when the regional depots are established people, especially those from the rural parts of the regions, will have easy access to the product at lower factory prices to put up stronger and durable houses capable of withstanding the recurrent harsh weather conditions such as the floods the region battles with yearly.
Speaking in his address at a durbar to climax this year's Feok festival activities in Sandema, the Overlord said the establishment of the depots will also reduce the over-dependency on the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for assistance whenever the rains strike.
Naab Azaksuk Azantilow commended the government for the numerous social policy interventions, developmental projects and assured the support of the traditional area for their full realization and success.
The Paramount Chief urged his people to make conscious effort to eradicate negative behaviors such as Bush burning, illegal felling of indigenous trees, teenage pregnancies, in order to achieve sustainable development as a district.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, James Agalga, called on the government to quicken efforts in the construction of the Navrongo - Chuchuliga - Sandema Road to further open up the area for development.
He also appealed for the extension of the rural electrification project to all communities to boost business activities.
Touching on his MP Common Fund, which he has channeled into the settlement of school fees to improve education in the area, Mr. Agalga said he would continue to work assiduously to bring the district the needed development.
Afoko David, the Builsa North District Chief Executive (DCE), commenting on the theme of this year's Feok Festival, "Celebrating and Consolidating the Achievements of our Great Father's", called on all well-meaning Builsas to inculcate in themselves selflessness to sustain development for generations unborn.
He said the Akufo Addo led administration will continue to pursue innovative and result-oriented programs to bring improvement to every sector of the district and economy.
The DCE assured that all the challenges stifling the success of some of the government's flagship programs and policies will be addressed to churn out positive results.
