The rich culture of the African continent was on display at the centenary celebration of the return of King Prempeh I from exile in the Seychelles.

A durbar held to mark the event at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Saturday, November 23, 2024, showcased the rich culture of some of the great tribes in Africa, namely the Asante culture and that of the people of Eswatini as well as that of the people of the Seychelles.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as usual, was the centre of attraction, arriving at the event in a palanquin.

There were beautiful displays of the singing and drumming of the Asante culture as well as the fontomfrom, adowa, and kete dances.

The people of Eswatini also portrayed their culture, with a number of them wearing the traditional emahiya attire.

The Prime Minister of Eswatini, Russell Dlamini, who led the Eswatini delegation to the event, also announced that the country's king, Mswati III, would be visiting the Asante Kingdom.

The event has been graced by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the President of Seychelles, the Prime Minister of Eswatini, as well as President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former President John Agyekum Kufuor, among other dignitaries.
