The 2012 running mate of the Progressive People’s Party Eva Lokko is being laid to rest today. The late parliamentary aspirant for Klottey Korle constituency died on the 6th of October 2016 after a short illness.
Scores of Ghanaians including executives of the Progressive People’s party were there to pay their last respect to the former party member.
Eva Naa Merley Lokko was a Ghanaian engineer who was popular for her role at the State Broadcasting Coporation, where she became the first woman engineer to be employed. She rose from the rungs and became the Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation in 2002.
On the political front, the late Eva Loko was the first woman to be chosen as the Vice-Presidential candidate in the 2012 elections. She was also the parliamentary aspirant of the PPP in the Klottey Korle constituency for the 2016 elections.
Until her death, Miss Lokko was an enthusiastic female voice in Ghanaian politics.
The burial service took place at the forecourt of the statehouse.
