Five out of six suspects, including an evangelist, have been arrested by the Volta Regional Police Command for allegedly robbing a fuel station at Peki-Wudome in the Volta Region.

The sixth suspect is on the run.

Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Edward Oduro Kwarteng, said intelligence received by the Peki District Police Command on Wednesday, 9 October 2019 revealed that a group of armed robbers had attacked the Kings Oil station and made away with GHS 2,000 and other effects of the company.

DCOP Kwarteng explained that his men were deployed to the area with the support of the Peki-Wudome neighbourhood watchdog committee and arrested three of the suspects, Godfred Alorvordzi, a 45-year-old trader; Felix Dupe, a 31-year-old evangelist; and Raphael Agbo, a 31-year-old driver at their hideout.

The two other suspects, Edem Fiati, 28, an electrician; and Adzaho Evans, 29, a taxicab driver, whose car was allegedly used for the robbery, were arrested in Ho on Thursday morning.

The sixth suspect, who is alleged to be a former worker of the fuel station, has been at large.

The police also disclosed that two of the suspects, Felix Dupe and Edem Fiati, are currently standing trial in another robbery incident within the Ho municipality but are currently on bail.

DCOP Kwarteng said the Volta regional police command “seizes the opportunity to caution all miscreants that the region cannot be a safe haven for any group of criminals to operate freely.”

He also expressed his appreciation to the Peki-Wudome community neighbourhood watch committee for the role it played in helping to arrest the suspects and urged other communities to do same to help curb armed robbery.
