Every Ghanaian will own a bank account in 2018 – Dr Bawumia

The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has assured government readiness to give each Ghanaian a bank account.

The bank account according to the vice president would be materialized beginning from January 2018.

According to him, to have a digitised economy, it had become necessary for the government to support each Ghanaian youth own a bank account.

Dr Bawumia, who was speaking at the official opening ceremony of the 2017 Innovation Week at the Kofi Annan-India Centre in Accra, expressed that, over 70 per cent of the Ghanaian population do not have bank accounts, and hence the government’s decision to assist every Ghanaian to own one.
