Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Rev John Ntim Fordjour
The Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, has called for calm in Bawku as violence in the ongoing conflict continues to rise.
In a post on X on Monday, July 28, 2025, the Assin South Constituency Member of Parliament expressed his sympathies to bereaved families and prayed for peace to prevail in the troubled region.
"We call for calm in Bawku. We pray for peace to prevail. Our sympathies to all bereaved families. Every life matters," he wrote.
The Bawku conflict, a longstanding dispute between the Kusasi and Mamprusi ethnic groups in the Upper East Region, has resulted in significant violence, displacements, and loss of lives over the decades.
The conflict, which dates back to the pre-colonial era and gained prominence around 1957, has recently escalated, prompting urgent calls for intervention.
