In the wake of the government?s intention to prosecute former District Chief Executives (DCE?s) for causing financial loss to the state, the ex-DCE for Jaman District in the Brong Ahafo Region, Mr Gyasi Matthew who is alleged to have embezzled ?2.3 billion is reported to have fled the country.
He is among former DCE?s who were to be prosecuted for allegedly causing financial loss to the state. The Free Press newspaper says it can confirm with authority that the former DCE has gone into hiding in America.
According to an audit report submitted to the Local Government Minister, Mr Matthew Gyasi could not account for over ?2 billion which he allegedly misappropriated. A reliable source at the Jaman District Assembly told the Free Press newspaper that Gyasi Matthew who could not wait to be caught up by the law decided to leave for America for his personal safety.
