A family member of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) driver, Kwabena Boateng, who defrauded a pastor and absconded, has revealed to The Chronicle that there was a prophecy that he would go into hiding because of a bid issue that would be linked to him.

The same person, The Chronicle gathers, is allegedly involved in other crimes also under investigation. Already, the GPHA has terminated his appointment effective the May 6, this year, for absenting himself from duty without permission for 18 consecutive days from 7th April 2019.

Management of the authority stated: “Your conduct is in breach of Article 14 Section 1 of the current Collective Agreement in force.”

According to the family source, Kwabena Boateng aka Kobby’s pregnant girlfriend (name withheld) visited a pastor in one of the suburbs of Accra suburbs for prayers.

The source went on that the man of God reportedly informed the pregnant young woman that the father of the child she was bearing would run away from her as a result of an incident.

The girlfriend, according to the family source, appealed unsuccessfully to Kobby for them to go back to the man of God to reverse whatever the bad omen was.

On March 5, this year, the girlfriend gave birth, and exactly a month later, April 4, 2019, Kobby, who is presently on the radar of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, is alleged to have defrauded another man of God, Pastor Richard Oduro, of God’s Ambassador Church in Tema Community 9.

Having earlier reportedly introduced himself to the pastor through an accommodation agent, one Sarkodie, as owner of an apartment in Community 11, went to the church of his victim and was handed a NIB cheque with face value of GH¢15,000.

On April 6, 2019, two days after cashing the cheque, Kobby’s whereabouts have not been known till now.

The Chronicle has information about how Kobby, as an employee of the GPHA, secured a huge unspecified amount as loan from a popular bank in Tema.

Meanwhile, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is also investigating an alleged illegal connection the fugitive former driver of the ports authority made at the apartment he fraudulently gave out for rent to Pastor Oduro.

The actual landlady is now at the mercy of the state power distributors, who want her to ‘cough up’ an amount of G H¢11,000, representing the illegal consumption of electricity.
