Sunyani (Brong Ahafo Region) -- But for the timely intervention of the Goaso Police, Alhaji Collins Dauda, the defeated NDC parliamentary candidate in the 2000 elections for Asutifi South, might have been lynched by some angry mob of the ruling NPP at Goaso.

Collins Dauda, also a former MP for the area, was invited to ?Success FM,? a Goaso-based radio station, to assess the NPP two years in the office. Speaking to Chronicle at Sunyani, the former MP said the DCE for Asunafo, Mr. George Boakye, later came to the radio station to confront him, but unfortunately he had left the place.

He said according to the DCE he was there to pick him, but could not explain further what the word ?pick,? meant.

Collins Dauda explained that whilst he was in the studio of the radio for one hour, a staff of the station came to inform them that some angry supporters of the NPP were at the entrance trying to break into the studio and attack him, Collins Dauda.

Based on the information from the staff, according to Collins Dauda, the host of the Programme, Kwadwo Boamah, made an announcement inviting the police to come to the rescue of the former MP.

He told Chronicle that when he came out of the studio, he saw the mob and he could identify the son of the NPP constituency chairman for Asunafo North among the crowd.

?But, the announcement made calling the police had made the supporters not to attack me,? adding ?I passed through them without a touch from them.?

Dauda said he disagreed with the action of the DCE for forcing himself into the studios without any invitation from the management.

He was of the view that if Mr. Boakye had something to explain about his assertion, he could have arranged a day for them to meet at the station.

On his part, Mr. Boakye explained that he was in his office when he heard on the radio that the host was inviting the police to rescue Collins Dauda. Being a DCE, he rushed to the radio station to pick up the former MP and to cool down the tempers of the supporters to ensure peace.

Mr. Boakye told Chronicle that he had to kneel down and beg the boys to leave the place, as they were angry and ready to attack the host as well.

On entering the studios, the DCE said he was there to respond to certain provocative things said by Alhaji Dauda.

The DCE confirmed that he did not meet the former MP at the time he went there.

However, he said ?I was to save him? The host, Mr. Kwadwo Boamah confirmed the story.

He told Chronicle that Mr. Boakye was there only to explain some of the issues raised by the former MP, but not to attack him.
