A member of the University of Education, Winneba governing council and former UTAG President Dr. Samuel Ofori Bekoe has threatened to kill the Omanhene of Effutu Traditional Area and council member Nenyi Ghartey VII, chairman of Governing Council Prof. Emmanuel Nicolas Abeka, Ag. Vice Chancellor Rev Fr. Prof Afful Broni and other council members with a machete during an emergency meeting held on Thursday 22nd February, 2018.

The meeting which was held to discuss the council's “Fact Finding Committee Report” saw Dr. Bekoe throwing some tantrums.

It is unclear what might have triggered Dr. Bekoe to behave in a manner uncharacteristic of a council member.

He could be heard screaming from the council’s chamber where the meeting was taking place as he issued threats.

A complaint was later lodged at the Winneba Police station by the Effutu Paramount Chief, Nenyi Ghartey VII, the Council Chairman, Acting Vice Chancellor and other council members.

Some Police personnel were later dispatched to his residence to invite him for questioning, which he declined.

The council member and senior lecturer simply refused to allow the police into his house. Dr. Bekoe is seeking re-election to serve on the council in Monday's elections.

Some people have questioned the unruly behavior exhibited on Council and what he will be bringing on board again to the Council.

Others are also questioning why he would want to go on the same Council whose members he is threatening to kill.
