Mamponteng (Ash.), May 12, GNA-The Mamponteng District Magistrate Court has remanded into prison custody Akwasi Fosu alias "Apah" who previously served a three-year jail term for theft.

The Court, presided over by Mr Uuter P. Dery, found Fosu guilty of charges of unlawful entry, stealing and illegal possession of firearm and deferred the sentence to May 25.

Assistant Superintendent Police (ASP) Francis K. Mensah, told the court that the complainant, Mr Sarpong Duah, detected yarn, which he used in weaving kente cloths were stolen from his store at Ntonso. ASP Mensah said the complainant later saw the accused person armed himself with a locally manufactured pistol and with a duplicate key open the store and start to pack some of the yarns into a sack.

Mr Duah then raised the alarm but the convict managed to escape into hiding until he was spotted and arrested on last Sunday. The prosecutor said Fosu admitted the charges but denied threatening to kill the complainant.
