The President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has cautioned Chiefs to exercise restraint in their interactions and public statements about political figures as the 2024 general elections approach.

Addressing a meeting of the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II stressed the importance of maintaining impartiality and avoiding partisanship.

While acknowledging that Chiefs may have concerns about political issues, he urged them to be mindful of their roles and refrain from taking sides.

Furthermore, he called on Chiefs to guide young people, particularly those prone to violence, to abstain from disruptive and violent behaviors during the election campaign season.

"It's a political season; let us take the opportunity to speak to the youth, especially the hooligans, that everybody in this country has one vote, and we should wait until the ballot date before we exercise that vote. Of course, nothing prevents us from campaigning for our MPs and our presidential candidates, but we should not take the law into our hands, molest people, or prevent people from either campaigning or voting."
