Accra, Oct 3, GNA - The Electoral Commission has announced that it will exhibit the Voters Register from Sunday, October 5 to Saturday, October 11.

The seven-day event which takes place at all polling stations nationwide from 0700 to 1800 is part of efforts to clean the register. Christian Owusu Parry, Acting Director of Public Affairs, in a statement explained that the exercise will serve an opportunity for voters to verify their names and other particulars on the register as well as ask for corrections of wrong data.

"Registered voters will have the opportunity to request for the inclusion if their names are omitted from the register. "The exercise will also afford voters the opportunity to remove names of deceased relatives and names of unqualified persons from the register."

Mr Parry warned all persons who have indulged in multiple registrations to assist the committee to remove their names from other polling station registers to avoid prosecution upon later detection. He noted that minors and unqualified persons who voluntarily remove their names from the register will not be prosecuted. The Acting Director of Public Affairs of the Electoral Commission urged voters to take opportunity of this exercise to confirm their polling stations during the December 7, elections.
