Yawhima (B/A), Oct 1, GNA - An Australian working with a mining company, Mr. Dale Clayton, has presented GHC 2,300 to Compassion is Love in Action (CILIA), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) operating an orphanage/children's home at Yawhima, near Sunyani, to build a fish pond.

Mr. Clayton, Operations Director with Liebherr, a gold mining firm at Tarkwa in the Western Region, had also previously assisted the home financially towards its building projects. Rev Mrs. Charlotte Osei Kwarteng, Founder of the home, told journalists that beside this donation Mr. Clayton had taken it upon himself to pay the monthly salaries of the two female teachers educating the children at the home.

She described Mr. Clayton as "a friend of the home" and that through his instrumentality Mr. Lynn Charles Bolein, an American working with Newmont, a gold mining company at Ahafo Kenyasi in the Brong-Ahafo Region, had spent about GHC 2,000 to extend piped-borne water system at the orphanage.

Mrs. Kwarteng said the home needed both logistics and financial support and that apart from a vehicle to convey the children to places of educational interest the home needed to expand and complete its building projects. She appealed to individuals, private business concerns and corporate organizations to come to their aid.
