Residents of Tong, a community in the Karaga District of the Northern Region have been hit with water shortage causing them to resort to a dug-out well as their only source of potable water.
For months, water has not flowed through their taps. Access to clean and safe water has become a major challenge to most communities in the Northern parts of Ghana.
In a video sent in by Alhassan Hardi Chiriga, women and children could be seen drawing water from the dug-out well. Even though the community benefited from the 1Village-1Dam project, residents still have to harvest rainwater for use in the dry season.
Another video recorded by Alhassan in March shows some men of the community digging the well.
