Contents of a live video on the Facebook wall of Broadcast Journalist, Afia Pokua, reveal that she never made comments to suggest that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will soon launch an ‘Ashawos for Mahama’ group as a campaign mechanism ahead of the 2020 polls, contrary to claims in a publication on MynewsGH.com.
The report by the portal sought to suggest that Afia Pokua, popularly called Vim Lady, had, during a presentation on Accra-based Okay FM, said because the NDC has not learnt any lessons, they will soon be launching ‘Ashawos for Mahama, Ladies for Mahama’.
But the livestream, sighted by www.ghanaweb.com reveals that Vim Lady was merely referring to incidents as they happened in the past.
She, while dwelling on strategies the two major political parties must look at to increase their chances at winning the 2020 polls brought back some tactics the then Mahama campaign team used to ‘work magic’ for themselves; tactics which failed nonetheless.
“Fear delegates, ask Mahama the meaning of this phrase. 2016, what did Mahama not do? Kumasi Kejetia Market, was it not his work? Have you seen Akufo-Addo build any Kejetia market like that in Kumasi? No, but what did he get from them? Why won’t Mahama say that even with glass and gold, Kumasi people won’t vote for him,”
“….It is not just Kumasi people who rejected Mahama, even Accra, where Mahama did the circle-Dubai interchange, they didn’t vote for him. People adopted ‘Boys for Mahama, girls for Mahama, if they had the chance then, they would even had launched ‘Ashawos for Mahama’ and a lot others but even after all of that, Mahama didn’t win and they took his money and spent and it is the same thing they are doing to Akufo-Addo today.
