A statement signed by Mrs Delese A. A. Darko, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the FDA had not approved the product by name male quantum magnetic boxer shorts for the treatment and management of any of the said health conditions.

It said the claims were circulating on social media with the claims of treating the diseases aforementioned, urging the public to avoid the patronage and use of such products as their safety could not be guaranteed.

The statement said the Authority had initiated investigations to ascertain if the product was available for sale on the Ghanaian market and to also ensure that the perpetrators were brought to book in accordance with section 118 of the Public Health Act 2012, (Act 851).

The section 118 of the Public Health Act 2012, (Act 851) states that: “A person shall not manufacture, prepare, import, export, distribute, sell, supply or exhibit for sale a drug, herbal medicinal product, cosmetic, medical device or household chemical substance unless the article has been registered by the Authority”.

The statement said conditions stated to be treated by the product under subjection were a serious medical condition, which demanded appropriate professional diagnosis, treatment and management.

It said therefore that any member of the public with any of the health issues stated above should seek help from a recognised health facility.

The statement urged the public to alert the FDA should they have any information on the product in the video or any FDA related issue through the Authority’s contact and social platforms for prompt response and action.
