Kumasi, Aug. 14, GNA - The Food and Drugs Board (FDB) has appealed to the general public to desist from patronising different brands of yoghurt commonly called "fresh yoghurt".

The Board said it had not registered any brand of "fresh yoghurt" and as such, could not guarantee the safety and quality of these products. In a statement signed by Mr Joseph Bennie, Zonal Officer in-charge of Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo regions and issued in Kumasi on Monday, the Board noted with concern the production, distribution and sale of different brands and flavours of yoghurt in the Kumasi metropolis. It mentioned Dei-Yogo produced at TUC in Kumasi, Yogat, produced from an unknown location in Kumasi and Fresh Yoghurt produced by Ash and Company Limited at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) campus as some of the products, which were currently being offered for sale in the metropolis.

The statement urged the public to desist from patronising any of these and any other products in their own interest to save their lives and that of their families.

It appealed to all producers of "fresh yoghurt" to contact the Board for proper registration and licensing of their products to safeguard their safety and quality.
