Participants at a training programme organised by the Brong Ahafo Regional Office of Food and Drugs Board (FDB) for cooks/chefs of restaurants have suggested the inclusion of vegetable farmers in such training programmes in future.

They said the involvement of the farmers who supply their products to the hospitality industry would educate them on activities that lead to food poisoning.

The 30 participants came to this consensus at day’s training programme in Sunyani on Friday on the topic: “Good Catering Practices and Food Poisoning.”

Mr Matthew Gyan Nkum, Regional Officer of the FDB entreated restaurant and canteen operators to cooperate with the board to ensure safety, quality and efficacy of food served to clients.

He said the Food and Drugs Law 1992 PNDCL 305B (7) states that “any person who sells, prepares, packages, conveys, stores or displays for sale any food under insanitary conditions, commits an offence”.
