Manager of Fachi 'Little Flower' School Complex, Charles K. Nyabu
The Fachi 'Little Flower' School Complex, a private basic school in Tamale on Thursday celebrated its 25th anniversary with a call on parents and stakeholders to help provide enough funds to support orphans in the School.
Mr Charles K. Nyabu, the Manager of the School, said the School, since its establishment in 1993 had instituted a programme dubbed "Long Term Human Resource Development for Orphans (LOTHDEFO)”, aimed at catering for orphans to prevent them from dropping out of school.
He said the School was currently facing difficulty in supporting these pupils due to the increasing number of orphans and thereby needed more funds to support them.
The anniversary was on the theme: " Little Flower @ 25: Impact on National Development Through Private Education".
Mr Nyabu said the 2015 to 2018 batches of the School who took part in the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) gave the School excellent results with all 100 per cent passes.
He said in 2015 and 2016 all the candidates presented for the BECE scored grade one (1) in Science, which was one of the core subjects whereas in 2018, 26 out of 28 candidates scored grade 1 in Science.
He said all the candidates of the four batches were placed in Senior High Schools of their choices across the country.
Mr Nyabu said the School had also been participating in quiz competitions and had won lots of laurels from both the district and national levels.
"In the 2012 and 2014 Hard Spell and Quiz contest, Ms Rathod B. Anjali who was in Junior High School (JHS) form one and JHS two in those years participated and won laurels for the School from the district level to the national level," he said.
Mr Nyabu also commended the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for their support to the School in its developmental process such as paving the school compound, building a ten (10) seater water closet toilet and provision of ceiling fans for the class rooms.
He also thanked them for the constant incentives they gave to the staff to spur them to work hard.
Mr Nyabu, however, said the school was faced with challenges such as the need for more class rooms to accommodate the pupils, the need for the construction of a concrete wall around the school to enhance security of the pupils and the school property among others.
Dame Anna-Maria Fati Paul, the Founder and Managing Director, expressed gratitude to all parents, Ghana Education Service (GES), the school staff and all other stakeholders for their support towards the growth and development of the school since its establishment.
She urged all the pupils to take their studies very serious in order to acquire the needed knowledge to achieve academic excellence and become important personalities in the future.
Professor Gabriel Ayum Teye, the Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS), commended Dame Anna-Maria Fati Paul for her foresight and contribution to humanity by providing an avenue for knowledge and job creation for people as well as scholarships for needy pupils since the establishment of the School
He urged the staff to continue to give out their best in order to maintain the School's performance academically and morally as well as improve on uplifting the image of the School.
Fachi 'Little Flower' School Complex was established as a private school in 1993 with only three (3) girls with the aim of increasing the literacy rate of women, but presently has a mixed pupil population of over 800 ranging from nursery to kindergarten, basic, and Junior High School level.
