The failed National Democratic Congress parliamentary aspirant for Krowor, Daniel Alabi alias Blowman, who allegedly led some thugs to inflict machete wounds on a Tema-based pastor, has been arrested.
Alabi who was picked up Thursday by the Police, is being prepared for court on initial charges of causing harm and damage to human and property belonging to the Agape Restoration Ministry Church at Tema Community 19.
In a video sighted by 3News, Alabi was seen Wednesday leading the armed men onto a disputed land on which the church is currently constructing an auditorium.
Wielding machete, stones and clubs, the about 30 men outnumbered the few church members, the head pastor, Rev. Ebenezer Arthur and two other pastors.
They then attacked them after which the gang proceeded to destroy some properties of the church including one salon car.
Rev. Arthur sustained multiple machete wounds in the palm, wrist, the nose and the head. The Police have described his injury as “severe” but said he is responding to treatment.
Other members of the church who were also injured have since been issued with Police medical form.
Briefing 3News on the incident Thursday, the Greater Accra Regional Police PRO, ACP Afia Tenge said Alabi and one other suspect arrested, are assisting the Police in investigations.
“Efforts are still underway to also get the rest arrested, that is if possible,” she said
Though she said the two will provisionally be charged with causing harm and damage “in the process of our investigations, a number of charges may come up”.
Properties including this car, were destroyed by the gang.
The Police PRO said granted the disputed land belongs to Alabi, there are due processes he ought to follow in claiming the land and not “taking the law into your hands, beginning to brutalize people unnecessarily”.
That, she indicated, was uncalled for, and assured that the Police will gather all the evidence and put the case before court for prosecution.
