The Akyem Swedru Circuit Court has sentenced a 50-year-old quack doctor to pay an amount of Ghc12000.00 or in default serve a jail term of four years.

The accused who works under the disguise of two different names Mr. Samuel Owusu Donkyi and Dr. Samuel Owusu Junior was busted by the Akyem Oda police division on 30/11/2015 at his house which also serves as his ‘hospital’ at Akyem Oda Roman down.

The case was presided over by Justice Emmanuel Brew.

Briefing the media with the facts, Chief Sup. Ebenezer Ampofo, Divisional Police Commander of the Akyem Oda police division said, on 30/11/15 at about 10am, the police had information about a man pretending to be a doctor and has been administering health care to unsuspecting patients.

He said the police quickly rushed to his house and found him administering service to one Kwame Tsikata, 27.

Upon interrogation, it was revealed that he has been doing the work for over 5years now and has worked at several other places such as Nkwakwa, Assin Fosu, Suhum among others.

On his arrest, some hospital apparatus were found in his possession as well as a number of certificates which he claims are his working permits and license.

Chief Sup. Ampofo used the opportunity to plead with Ghanaians to attend recognised health centers and hospitals for health care any time the need arises.
