False prophets causing more harm than good

Accra March 29, GNA - Alhaji Dr Ibrahim B. A. Bonsu, a renowned Ahmadi Muslim scholar and preacher, has appealed to Christian organisations to help weed out false prophets since they were causing more harm than good in the society.

He said these prophets were the cause of some broken marriages, homes, hatred and disunity in society.

In a statement signed by Ahmad Twumasi, Public Relations Officer, Ahmadiyya Mission in Accra, the Muslim scholar advised Ghanaians to beware of self acclaimed prophets who claim they can perform miracles. "They even claim they can make the poor become rich, they can help people acquire visas and help the cripple or lame to walk," he said when he delivered a KHATBA (Friday) sermon on the topic, 93Beware of the false Prophets" at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Central Mosque at Kasoa. Alhaji Dr Bonsu said all those claims professed by the so called men of God were baseless and must therefore be rejected. He said the self-styled men of God with 93sugar-coated" words were also amassing wealth at the expense of the poor and the needy. Alhaji Dr Bonsu said sugar, salt, oil, milk, handerkerchiefs are some of the items these false prophets to bless with the Holy Spirit and sell them exorbitantly to their victims.

"They have to buy them because they believe these items can cure them of their ailments or solve their problems," he said. Alhaji Dr Bonsu said some of the prophets had also been sleeping with innocent young girls and even married women because their victims believe that is the only way their problems could be solved. He praised the media for exposing some of those prophets and appealed to journalists not rest on their oars in exposing the charlatans.
