Family of the late Lawrence Joe Baidoo, a final year student of the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) have hinted of using other means of seeking justice for their loss even if it meant consulting a deity.
Speaking in an interview with Joy News, a man believed to be the uncle of the deceased indicated that if the police did not address the issue, they would be left with no other option than to look for answers elsewhere which included visiting a deity. He admonished the police not to take the matter lightly because a life had been lost.
It was reported that Lawrence Joe Baidoo, who was in the company of some friends on December 22 when a police officer believed to be known as Detective Adjei Shaibu shot at them.
According to reports, Detective Adjei Shaibu was accompanying a woman in a car and was ordered to shoot at the group of friends who were mistaken to be robbers. The shots that were fired by the policeman killed Lawrence and the chaos caused injuries to some of his friends.
The reports went on to say that Detective Adjei Shaibu and the lady he was accompanying both left the scene after the incident.
However, checks from the Western Regional Police Command revealed that the suspect had been arrested and was in police custody pending further action.
