New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has put a new twist on the rumors about late President John Mills’ death saying that, but for the timely intervention of the “the Fante caucus” in the National Democratic Party (NDC), the late president would have been killed long before his death.
Kennedy Agyapong was speaking on Wednesday evening on Adom FM's “Burning Issues” program, which was also live on Asempa FM.
He claimed that he has a text message from a certain number belonging to a top gun NDC leader, which earlier warned President Mills to “deal” with some NPP members when the NDC came to power.
He said the same number sent another message threatening to “whack” the late president if he failed to execute that agenda.
Mr. Agyapong explained that it was the Fante caucus, comprising of former Chief of Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, Brigadier Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, former Member of the Council of State, Captain Kojo Tsikata (Rtd), the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Mr. Ato Ahwoi, and the National Security Coordinator, Col. Gbevlo Lartey who strategically built a ‘fortress’ around the president and protected his life.
Asked to disclose the person behind the plot and the text messages, the NPP MP refused, saying that the person knows himself.
He even suggested that the person sat at the high table with the dignitaries during the one-year anniversary celebration.
Kennedy Agyapong also alleged that the same person had, at another time, sent a text message insinuating that: “do not be afraid if Afari-Gyan makes a mistake and declare Nana Addo a winner, there will be war in this country.”
He stressed that Ghanaians must applaud the “Fante caucus” for saving the late president from destruction and early death.
He said it was impossible for President Mills to succeed with all those threats lurking on his mind, and that was why he performed poorly.
