The Half Assini Police has arrested John Kpobi Kaku, a farmer, who shot a charcoal burner in the bush at Adusuazo and bolted.
Superintendent John Furgeson Dzineku, the Jomoro District Police Commander, made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Half Assini.
He gave the name of the charcoal burner as Benjamin Forbah.
The police commander said the suspect who has been on Police wanted list for some time was arrested last month when he surfaced at Half-Assini on the night of February 23.
He said on December 28, 2015, Mr Forbah was returning home about 2000 hrs after inspecting some wood being burnt for charcoal when the incident occurred.
Superintendent Dzineku said at a section of the road he saw a light about 30 meters away coming towards him from the opposite direction.
He said suspecting the light to be that of a hunter, he whistled to signify his presence at the place, as this is the practice of hunters in the area.
Superintendent Dzineku said the person with the light never responded and was still getting closer, Mr Fobah shouted louder "I am here", but the hunter ignored his call and suddenly shot at him.
He said Mr Forbah screamed "you have killed me", and the hunter, Kpobi, came and decided to carry him to the town but on realizing the extent of his injury, he abandoned him to his fate in the bush and fled the scene.
The victim managed to call a work-mate on phone who went for him on a motorbike to Half-Assini Government Hospital where he was given first aid treatment and referred to the Eikwe Mission Hospital for further treatment.
Forbah was discharged on January 11 2016, after two weeks on admission.
