A Bibiani Circuit Court has ordered that Isaac Amankwah, a farmer at Kwawkrom near Chirano in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District be held in prison custody over the death of his step son.

Amankwah is facing a provisional charge of murder.

His plea was not taken and he would be brought back to court on Wednesday, April 11, 2012.

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah told the court presided over by Mr Osei Kofi Amoako that the complainant, Akua Pokuah is the wife of the accused.

They lived together with the deceased, Felix Kofi, aged two years, at Kwawkrom.

On Sunday, March 11, at about 1930 hours, Pokuah left the little boy in the care of Amankwah as she went out to buy pepper seedlings in a nearby house.

She returned just after about 15 minutes only to find the accused sitting beside the naked and lifeless body of the boy.

The woman became suspicious, and reported the case to the police following which the accused was arrested.

The prosecution said an autopsy report gave the cause of death as hemorrhage, shock, ruptured spleen and severe malnutrition.**
