Farmer charged with threatening to kill uncle

Asamankese (E/R), March 12, GNA - Isaac Kwapong, farmer, 25, of Esaase near Brekumanso in the West Akyem District was on Friday granted a 10 million cedi bail with one surety by a circuit court at Asamankese for threatening to kill his uncle.

Kwapong pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on March 30. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Alhassan Amadu told the court that on November 25, last year at about 1500 hours a witness in the case revealed to Maxwell Akporh, also a farmer, his nephew Kwapong's intention to kill him that night.

He said the witness informed Akporh that Kwapong had shown him a live cartridge, which he planned to use to shoot him.

Chief Inspector Alhassan said on hearing of his nephew's intention, Akporh became frightened and sought the assistance of some youth in the village to arrest Kwapong and escorted him to the Asamankese Police Station to lodge a complaint.
