Farmer charged with threatening to kill uncle

Asamankese (E/R), March 15, GNA - A 25-year-old farmer, who had procured a cartridge with the intention to shoot his uncle has been granted bail in the sum of 10 million cedis by the Asamankese Circuit Court.

Isaac Kwapong, who pleaded not guilty to threatening to kill his uncle, will re-appear before the court on March 30.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Alhassan Amadu told the court that on November 25, 2004, a witness in the case reported to Mr Maxwell Akporh, also a farmer living with Kwapong at Esaase, near Asamankese, that his nephew was preparing to kill him that night.

The witness said Kwapong had shown him the cartridge he had bought with the intention to shoot the uncle.

The prosecution said on hearing the intention of his nephew, the frightened Mr Akporh sought the assistance of some youth in the village and arrested Kwapong to the police station.
