Farmer forces stepson to drink urine

Kwamivi Ahiadzo, a farmer, has been charged with unlawfully exposing his five-year old step-son, Victor Segbedzi, to harm, by forcing him to drink a mixture of urine and water for ritual purposes.

Kwamivi Ahiadzo pleaded not guilty to the charge at an Accra circuit tribunal, chaired by Mrs. Elizabeth Anderson Yeboah.

Presenting the facts, the prosecutor, Inspector Alex Yartey Tawiah, said Manoah Agbwour, a trader, who is the complainant and wife of Kwamivi, lives at Ofankor with her son, Victor and her husband. He said Kwamivi in the course of time confided in his wife to allow him to sacrifice Victor for spiritual purposes to enable him get rich. Inspector Tawiah said Manoah did not consent to the idea. But Kwamivi, determined to carry out his diabolical plans, secretly lured Victor to the bathhouse and mixed urine with water and forced him to drink it. This Kwamivi did intermittently until he was caught by his wife.

Kwamivi further started putting persistent pressure on his wife to agree to his wicked plans but all ended up in vain. Inspector Yartey said Kwamivi started threatening both his wife and son?s lives with death and vowed to eliminate them simply because Victor has a different father. A report was made to the police and Kwamivi was arrested, cautioned and charged with the offence.

He has since been remanded in police custody to reappear on October 27.
