Farmer granted five million cedis bail

Kumawu (Ash), April 9, GNA- A 24-year-old farmer of Abotanso near Kumawu in the Sekyere East district who was arraigned before the Kumawu circuit court for assault and causing harm, was on Wednesday granted five million cedis bail.

Kwasi Kwakye pleaded guilty and he would re-appear on April 22 for sentence Police Inspector Anthony Godfred Sekyi told the court that on March 29, this year, the accused engaged Kwadwo Donkor to weed his farm for 20,000 cedis.


He said at the close of day that day, Donkor could not go for his money from the accused until April 2.


Inspector Sekyi said on April 2, when Donkor went to the accused to collect his money, the accused directed him to his mother for the money since according to him, the mother owed him 20,000 cedis.

He said the complainant refused to go to the accused's mother arguing that it was not the mother who asked him to work for him.


Inspector Sekyi said a quarrel therefore ensued between the accused and complainant and to avoid trouble, the complainant left for his house. However, he said, the accused chased the complainant and inflicted cutlass wounds on his face and the matter reported to the police.
