Bekwai (Ash), Feb. 10, GNA – The Asante-Bekwai Circuit Court has sentenced Abdul Rahman Abubakar, a farmer, to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling his 14-year old sister in-law.

He pleaded guilty to the crime.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Ofori told the court presided over by Justice Daniel Kwaku Obeng that the victim was a Junior High School (JHS) pupil at Abrankese in the Bosomtwe District, whiles the convict lived with his wife, Sadiya Issaka, at Yakubu, a village not far from Abrankese.

He said during the last Christmas holidays, the victim went to spend some time with her elder sister, Sadiya and her husband and during the stay, Sadiya went on a journey leaving her younger sister with her husband.

Detective Sergeant Ofori said Abubakar then took advantage of his wife’s absence to sexually abuse the girl on four different occasions.

He said on her return, the victim narrated her ordeal to Sadiya and a formal report was made to the police.

Detective Sergeant Ofori said a medical report signed by doctors who treated the victim confirmed that she had been defiled.
