Farmers Society President Receives Technoserve Exemplary Leadership Award

An International NGO based in the United States, Technoserve Incorporated, has presented an award for Exemplary Leadership to the President of the Ntinanko Co-operative Oil Palm Farmers Society in the Amansie East District, Mr.. Joseph Yarney. The award known as "The Edward P. Bullard Award for Leadership" was instituted by Technoserve last year in a tribute to its founder the late, Mr.. Bullard whose vision of self-help and enterprise has made a difference in the developing country whose contribution has improved the lives of others in his or her community, region or country through individual initiative and enterpreneurship. Mr.. Yarney is the first Ghanaian recipient among five others worldwide. In a citation, the Ghana Director of Technoserve Mrs.. Margaret Bowman-Hicks, said Mr.. Yarney has since 1985 spearheaded the formation of the society to produce and market palm oil locally and internationally. She said under his leadership, the Ntinanko Co-operative Oil Palm Farmers Society has become a shinning example of a successful community-based enterprise that has brought a lot of inspiration to many communities in the country.
