Wansammire-Achiase (Ash), Dec 10, GNA- The people of Wansammire-Achiase in the Atwima District who are predominantly farmers have appealed to the government to rehabilitate the nine-kilometre feeder road from Sreso-Tinpom to the town to facilitate the easy carting of cocoa and foodstuffs from the area.

Making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency at Wansammire-Achiase on Tuesday, Nana Owusu Akyaw, chief of the town, said due to the deplorable nature of the road, drivers who ply the area had arbitrarily increased their fares from 6,000 to 8,000 cedis from Kumasi to the town.

He said those who cannot afford are forced to walk 15 kilometres from the town to Nyinahin before they board vehicles to Kumasi.

Nana Owusu Akyaw also deplored the indiscriminate felling of timber by some companies without paying compensation to farmers whose farms are destroyed.

He said two bridges spanning the Abakosua and Owan streams also posed a danger to vehicles who ply the area and called on the Department of Feeder Roads and the Atwima district assembly to build new ones before a disaster occurred.
