Farmers reject cocoa protest claims

The Concerned Farmers Association of Ghana has dismissed reports suggesting that cocoa farmers are planning a demonstration.

In a statement signed by its President, Farmer General Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu II, the association said it is unaware of any protest plans and stressed that cocoa farmers remain focused on improving their livelihoods rather than engaging in political activities.

They warned against attempts to politicise issues within the cocoa sector.

“We are farmers, not politicians,” the statement noted.

They called on the Ghana Police Service to investigate any individuals or groups seeking to organise demonstrations in the name of cocoa farmers before granting approval.

The association further cautioned that impersonating cocoa farmers for political purposes is a serious offence and called on the public to disregard claims of farmer‑backed protests.
