Farouk Aliu Mahama grabs chieftaincy title at Mion

Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, son of the former Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama has grabbed a chieftaincy title at Mion in the Northern Region.

The current Chief of the area, Mion Lana Mahamadu Abdulai in accordance with the customs and traditions, gave cola to him to signify that he has been officially accepted as the new Zongo Chief and should ready himself for an enskinment on a later date.

According to Farouk Aliu Mahama who confirmed this to MyNewsGh.com, he received the cola at the weekend and thanked the chief and his council of elders for the honour done him.

Alhaji Farouk’s grandfather, Zongo-Na Mahama (late) was the Zongo Chief of Yendi, the capital of Dagbon Kingdom.

The Executive Director for Partnership for Poverty Reduction, a Non-governmental Organization that has over the years supported farmers in the Yendi municipality with agricultural inputs and other materials has also been credited for other pro-poor interventions to ameliorate the plight of residents especially women of the area.

Recently, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate aspirant for Yendi Constituency in the 2020 elections, sponsored eight of his constituents to perform this year’s pilgrimage in the Holy City of Mecca.

He challenged the beneficiaries to pray for bountiful blessings particularly for the Yendi Constituency, Ghana and for the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He underscored the need for Allah’s blessings of an extraordinary energy to continue to give Ghana the exemplary stewardship to inure to the benefit of the citizenry.

Hajj is one of cardinal pillars in Islam and an annual pilgrimage to the Holy City of Mecca to undertake a spiritual cleansing and seek the face of Allah is deemed necessary.
