The Royal Abor Awusie Twidan Family of Gomoa Fetteh have sent an SOS message to the Chief Justice (CJ), Her Ladyship Justice Theodora Georgina Wood, begging her to fast-track the chieftaincy dispute of the area which has been pending at the court for over 15 years now.

According to the Royal Family, ever since the chieftaincy dispute rocked the ancient coastal community, development has stalled with residents constantly leaving in fear and panic.

The situation, they argued, have resulted in the death of innocent lives and created confusion in the area.

“We want to appeal to the conscience of the Chief Justice to look into the Gomoa Fetteh Chieftaincy dispute which has been pending in court for over 15 years now,” noted Nana Owusu Boamah, Spokesperson for the Royal Abor Awusie Twidan Family in his appeal to the Chief Justice at a press conference on Monday.

In the opinion of the family, “justice delayed is justice denied and so we continue to have this feeling as a people that justice has been compromised in most of our cases, hence, causing delays and dragging us thus far.”

He said some people have taken advantage of the situation and parading themselves as chiefs with the sole aim of selling their land properties to enrich themselves.

Their mode of operation, he noted, is to engage land guards whose activities have mainly been centered on causing harm to human lives and properties in the area in the full glare of the police.

According to the royal family, having reviewed their stance over the chieftaincy dispute in the area, they have come to the understanding that only an intervention from the Chief Justice will help resolve the rumpus.

“We want the Chief Justice to rise up and assist the Gomoa Fetteh Royal Family to address this chieftaincy dispute before the angry Fettehman takes the law into their hands to defend themselves and their properties.”
