Legon Cities FC goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has disclosed that he failed at Orlando Pirates because it was difficult to dislodge Senzo Meyiwa as number one.
Meyiwa, who was murdered in 2014 in South Africa, was the number one goalkeeper of Pirates and also the first choice for the Bafana Bafana.
Fatau Dauda had joined the South Africans in 2013 from Ghanaian side Ashantigold, but could only manage three appearances before leaving the club to join Chippa United.
“I went at the time where the goalkeeper (Senzo Meyiwa) was the captain, thus Senzo,” the goalkeeper told GTV Sports Plus.
“I learnt a lot from him (Senzo), in fact he was one of the best in the South African League at that time and he had earned a call-up to the South African National team.”
Dauda spent two years in South Africa before returning to Ashantigold, where he helped the Miners win the 2015 Ghana Premier League.
The 35-year old is currently captain of Legon Cities FC.
