The Chief Driver of Takoradi Flour Mills has committed suicide by hanging at his residence at Effiakuma in the Sekondi/Takoradi metropolis.

The deceased, John Kofi Adams, 55, is believed to have committed the act around 2:00am on Sunday, May 12 at the gate of the compound house where he lived with his family.

Kofi Prah, who is the landlord, tells host of Connect FM‘s OMANBAPA morning show, Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, it was a lady tenant who woke up at dawn to sweep and bumped into the lifeless body of Mr Adams and raised an alarm.

According to the landlord, the wife of the deceased, Abena Mfantse, who is seriously traumatized, tells him the husband woke up around 2:00am and told her he was going to take his bath

“Least did the wife suspect the husband was going to commit that heinous crime only for his lifeless body to be seen dangling on a loose rope at the main gate of the yard,” the landlord recounted.

Mr Prah says the deceased, who has three kids with the wife, has been living in the house for over 15 years and been usually calm until the unfortunate incident on Sunday.

Neighbours and colleague workers who besieged the premises upon hearing the news appeared utterly shocked since the deceased didn’t show any sign of being troubled.

One question then was left on almost everybody’s lip: “Why would a father commit suicide on Mothers’ Day?”

The body has since been conveyed by the Effiakuma police to the Effia Nkwanta Hospital morgue while investigation continues.
