The Tarkwa Circuit Court has sentenced Sampson Sramafo, a 42-year-old farmer, to 20 years imprisonment in hard labour for sexually assaulting his 19-year-old daughter and threatening to kill her.

He pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Albert Adiita told the court presided over by Mr Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the convict is the biological father of the victim who reside in a two- bedroom with three other siblings on their farm land situated at Nipa-Hiamoah in the Western Region.

According to the Prosecutor, in 2008 the convict lost the wife who was the mother of the victim.

He said two-years after the death of the wife, the convict moved from his bedroom to join his four children including the victim who is the oldest among them.

DSP Adiita said few days after joining his children the victim became ill and she informed the father who then went to Prestea and brought some drugs including volume 10 sleeping tablets.

The Prosecutor said the convict gave the victim the drugs including two of the sleeping tablets.

He said after fallen asleep in the night, her daddy had sex with her.

He said the act continued for three times and the victim noticed it and confronted the father but he threatened to kill her and the other siblings and later commit suicide if she informs anybody or resist further attempts.

DSP Adiita said on Wednesday around 0100 hours on December 12, the convict jumped on the victim and she raised the alarm which attracted her younger brother to the scene.

He said Sremafo became offended and assaulted the victim and her brother and threatened to kill them on December 24 and commit suicide.

DSP Adiita said the next day the two reported their father’s action to his friend who asked them to stay with him until he verifies the allegations.

He said around 2100 hours on December 13 the convict was seen setting the two-bedroom house ablaze.

The matter was therefore reported to the unit committee members who caused his arrest.

The Prosecutor said the convict in his caution statement admitted committing incest and threatening his two children but he denied burning down the house intentionally.
