An eleven-year-old pupil of the Kojokrom Catholic Primary in the Western Region, has suffered what doctors describe as second degree burns after his father poured hot water on him for allegedly stealing GHC5.
The victim, Adolf Essel Junior is currently on admission at the Takoradi Government Hospital.
Little Adolf lives with his father Adolf Essel Snr alias 'Kwaata', 44, a taxi driver and stepmother at Mpintsin, a suburb of Takoradi.
According to a neighbour who gave the tip -off, the couple took the victim to their friend's house at Inchaban Nkwanta, a nearby town and boiled some water and poured on it on the buttocks and thighs, resulting in severe burns. The incident happened on Wednesday April 5, 2017.
They later applied ‘gentian’ violet on the burns and kept the victim in the room to prevent neighbours from noticing what they had done to their son.
However, luck eluded them when a Good Samaritan saw the victim's situation on Friday afternoon and quickly called Paa Kwesi Simpson, a broadcast Journalist with Skyy Power FM, who collaborated with detective, Sergeant Pobee of the Kojokrom Police to rescue the victim from his father's residence at Mpintim.
The father later reported himself to the police and is currently behind bars.
The victim, who could not participate in the end -of- term examination due to his predicament, was taken to the Takoradi Government Hospital by the Regional DOVVSU Boss, Elizabeth Dorman.
When Ahotor FM, Atinka M’s sister station, visited the male ward of the Takoradi Hospital on Tuesday , doctors said little Adolf was responding to treatment .
